This weekend we took out three walls and a ton of flooring. We still have multiple layers of ceramic tile and hardwood to go, but we’re at least a couple layers closer to seeing the subfloor. We did find one DIY disaster funny this weekend, at some point someone decided that the floor was sagging in the kitchen. To level it they floated quickset mortar thick enough to make the floor look level. This resulted in 2 inches of mortar we have to get through in order to actually fix the issue. Also, more weight in the rottenist part of the house. … great idea right?? There are always surprises while digging into old houses.

We also got the roof re-tarped right before a big storm came through, thankfully it only rained on the outside of the house. Brady discovered just how bad the roof is, in one large section there are no shingles or tar paper, it is just the bare plywood sheeting. The front yard is cut and several of our new neighbors came over to introduce themselves, which led to us learning a lot about the history of our house.
We started the weekend with a completely empty 30 yard dumpster and when we looked Sunday night we had about half the dumpster full and a large load for the city to pick up this week sitting by the road. It was a great demo weekend, still quite a bit more flooring to come up and ceiling to come down, and sub floor to dig into before we can start putting it back together, but we are a lot closer than we were on Friday afternoon.

NO MORE MOLD!!!!
