Progress Post

The finish line is in site, at the edge of the horizon, but it is in site. Since our last update we have painted the house, installed most of the doors, rebuilt the screened porch, ran drain lines, and got in a HUGE order from Amazon’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. Those amazing sales are just for clothes, shoes, and decor but there are also amazing deals on home fixtures.

The exterior painting was a multi weekend project due to rain, cold, and high humidity, but its done and I am loving the creamy white brick with trim that perfectly matches the metal roof.

We have three of four doors in including the front door, the carport door, and one of the two sets of French doors. Sparks were flying while trying to remove the old carport door. It is unbelievably nice to be able to close and lock the doors in a house that hasn’t had a single closeable door in about a year.

The rear screened porch has come a long way lately. Brady completely removed the entire rotted old one and rebuilt using rough cut Cypress which is naturally rot and insect resistant, that means perfect for outside. We will stain it to match the rest of the cypress going in and on the house and the far end will hold our outdoor kitchen. I’m super excited about that kitchen, because Brady is excited about “getting” to cook more and I am ALL for that! Those 6 x 6 beams are something serious and look amazing! We are already enjoying sitting on it, even without the screen.

The Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale from Amazon was AMAZING! I got can lights, bedroom ceiling fans, outdoor lights, pot filler, bathroom faucets, interior/exterior door hardware, electrical outlets/switches, and the crown glory of my haul was the 33” farmhouse sink. Everything was on sale, some things were up to 50% off! My complete haul was about $2,000, but had I bought it without the sale it would have been more than double that. The sink alone was a huge savings. In store this sink runs about $600, I got it for $250 which is even cheaper than the normal Amazon price. If you need house things and you can wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday do it, just wait!

We can’t wait to share our next chunk of progress with you! We have purchased our first round of cement board and drywall, things are about to start getting pretty!
